- Description:
- Stylized Water 2 is a highly customizable water asset for Unity, designed to provide artistic freedom and ease of use. It is built on over 8 years of experience in water rendering and is compatible with the Universal Render Pipeline. The asset offers a range of features, including unlit, simple, and advanced shading modes, deep and shallow color controls, and intersection foam effects. It also includes GPU-driven, layered wave animations, animated caustics, and translucency rendering from all light types.
The asset is perfect for both beginners and experts alike, and can be used for a range of applications and styles. It includes a clean, accordion-style material UI with tooltips and notifications, tessellation support, and a C# API to read the wave height/normal. The asset also includes a planar reflections renderer component, screen-space reflections, and a water grid component.
The asset is compatible with Universal Render Pipeline 10.3.2+, PC, macOS, Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch, Android/iOS, and WebGL 2.0. It also supports DirectX, Metal, Vulkan, and OpenGL 3.0+. Automatic fog integration is available for several popular fog renderers, and the asset is integrable with other popular assets.
The asset is highly performant, with a hand-written, expertly crafted shader that can be disabled to make it scalable for mobile platforms. However, it is not compatible with the 2D Renderer or Tilemaps, and planar reflections are not VR-compatible. The asset also has some restrictions, including not being ideal for planetary rendering.
The asset includes several pre-configured water materials, foam and normal map textures, and a set of particle effects. It also includes a tropical beach demo scene and a utility to create subdivided plane/circle mesh assets.
The asset is available for purchase on the Unity Asset Store, and a 30% upgrade discount is available for users of the previous Stylized Water 1 asset. The asset also has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Technical details:
* The asset requires the Universal Render Pipeline and is not compatible with the Built-in RP or HDRP.
* Water is a transparent material, so it inherits the quirks and limitations of transparency sorting.
* The shader requires the depth texture option to be enabled in URP in most cases.
* Water is transparent, so any depth-based post-processing effects will not affect it.
* Network-syncronized waves are possible through a simple API call.
* Intersection foam is based on the vertical distance between the water and the object/pixel below.
* Tessellation requires DirectX11+, Metal, or Vulkan rendering.
* The asset has a clean, accordion-style material UI with tooltips and notifications.
* The asset includes a planar reflections renderer component, screen-space reflections, and a water grid component.
* The asset is compatible with several popular fog renderers and can be integrated with other popular assets. - Technical Details:
