- Description:
- Atmospheric Height Fog is a height fog solution for Unity that provides a volumetric-like effect with lower computation power. It supports directional light and animated noise, and is compatible with various render pipelines and 3rd party tools. The fog is easy to set up and has a range of features, including distance-based fog, dual-color fog, height-based fog, and fog axis selection. It also supports 3D animated noise and volume blending, and has a basic time of day feature via day-night preset interpolation. The fog is zero global keyword usage (2019.1+), and has functions for adding fog support for transparent shaders made with Amplify Shader Editor, Shader Graph, or custom-written shaders. It also has a basic demo scene included. However, the fog has some limitations, including not supporting SM2 devices, only higher-end mobile devices, only one directional light, and not supporting point lights and spotlights. It also requires depth texture rendering and has some visual artifacts with transparent objects and MSAA. The fog is only officially supported on the latest LTS Unity versions.
